ClearBooks accounting software started out as a simple web app http://www.freeaccountingsoftware.org.uk

Free Accounting Software was a free online accounting tool for small businesses to manage their accounts.

Accounts, in their simplest form, are a series of transactions made up of equal and opposite debits and credits which balance.

For example the accounting for a transaction such as a cash sale of £100 would be:

Debit Cash £100
Credit Sales £100

Free Accounting Software was an Internet based accounting software package that kept things simple by building up the debit and credit transactions to form the trial balance, profit and loss statement and balance sheet. A big advantage of web based accounting software is the ability to log in from anywhere with an internet connection.

Free Accounting Software no longer exists as a web app as ClearBooks took its place.

Find UK Accountant is a directory of accountancy firms in the UK organised by county and town.

Accountants may sign up to the service to get their contact details listed in the directory.
